Couch Session #23: Seabear

It's a shame that I missed this one, that I had to head back home,
to have the band only see half, to leave Donald alone.
We've wanted to shoot with this band for a while,
multiple emails flowing through our inbox piles.
But sometimes trips happen, and the show must proceed,
And with this Icelandic session, we're truly pleased.
There's a glorious trumpet, our website's first one!
Glad that after all this time, there are still firsts to be done.
Seabear's songs seem to suspend time, in the warm window's light,
playing almost as brilliantly as they did later that night.
From a CD spun over and over inside our home,
to songs performed as eloquently as a poem,
We hope their music strikes a chord, as its quaint civility is divine,
and that you enjoy Seabear now, and all throughout time:

Couch Session: Oh Land

Couch Session #22: Oh Land

It's been three long months since we've called somewhere home,
since we've had a bathroom that could house our keepsake gnome.
A new neighborhood, new apartment, new loft type of place,
with an odd-shaped bedroom and dusty curtains in our face.
Moving in, cleaning up, unpacking long-lost clothes, books and Ball jars
It looked like a dwelling, but never quite felt like ours.
But then Oh Land came over, munching on meatballs and more,
homemade creamed spinach and mashed potatoes galore.
And when they played, it was different; we were back! Something changed,
The music, the videos, the meal — everything was suddenly the same.
 If our home is where our heart is, then our home is in a cheesy phrase,
but if we use both hearts we have, one's in a more music-based daze.
We're finally back, finally here, finally on the site posting,
Finally able to hold up a glass post-session for toasting.
Oh Land made our apartment our home, and let her voice truly soar,
Ringing the acoustics through our new place like never before.
Completely reinterpreting each one of her songs,
These new arrangements left us swaying to it in our heads all night long.
The walls may be different, the layout is new,
Everything's back to normal, including new videos to show you.
Come back every Tuesday for a new session, just like before, 
And if you like this one, the future holds much, much more.

Couch Session #20 — Dinosaur Feathers

If I’m a sucker for one thing it’s harmonies, bar none,
With my second weakness being music deeply rooted in fun.
So naturally, Dinosaur Feathers were quite the treat,
And not just because of the sugar-coated, chocolate chip french toast they had to eat.
With each gent possessing a wide vocal range,
Displayed on lyrics delightful and equally strange,
Their effectively odd mix will make you want more
the guitar and— wait, did they just say whore?!
But even while crooning about sexually active young things,
The obvious still comes through that damn, these boys can sing.
They bring whimsy to their album that these days goes unseen,
Using both choral techniques and a drum machine.
But if this pterodactyl could fly, well, actually, it probably did,
So I guess our time has come to begin.
Give them a listen, and make sure to wave your short T-Rex arms,
for Dinosaur Feathers' lovely couch session charm:

Couch Session #14 - Young The Giant

They sing that life's too short, and it's true, you know,
never knowing when it ends, unsure of when you'll go.
But one thing I'm sure of is that I'm completely irked,
that this many people crammed together, and i couldn't watch it work.
My apartment — filled with boys! — while I was about to board a plane,
six playing here in Brooklyn, as I headed back from Spain.
It's the first session I've missed, the first shot wholly alone,
Me: stuffing my face with tapas, Donald: running the home.
I mean, come on, they're holding my stuffed creatures with smiles —
It's like a postcard from my dream world, worth using up my frequent flier miles.
There's one shaking a jar of Nerds who isn't even in the band!
Just a friend having some fun with candies in his hand.
The more I listen, I realize how much I missed,
but when it all sounds so good, its hard to stay pissed.
With a band practically exploding on our yolk-colored couch,
There are only videos to show me what it was all about.
I guess today, I'm just like all of you,
Here to watch, with no other updating to do.
It's weird to view it from the audience's eye,
to not see what went into it, and to never ask why.
So I'll keep watching, like a stumbled upon song,
since accidentally coming across something you love is never wrong.
At least when I say I can't get enough, you'll know I'm being true,
So here's Young The Giant — as new for me as it is for you.

Couch Session #13 - Hooray For Earth

Hooray for earth, for you, for me,
Hooray for this session being all we hoped it to be.
I’ll keep this one short, but oh so sweet,
As I’m sick and full of Benadryl, and am totally beat.
We tried something new with these guys that we know,
Microphones, cords, like a whole real live show.
Its different and fun, and we think that you’ll dig
